Paramount Theatre
EDITORIAL, PHOTOGRAPHY
The Paramount Theatre is a Historical Landmark on South Congress that has made an impact on Austin’s culture. “Paramount: Preserving Austin History & Culture” is an annual newspaper distributed by the theatre to guests and donors. The publication discusses the history of the theatre and promotes the preservation of historical sites, like the Paramount, around Austin.
The iconic Art Deco blade that flashes above the entrance of the theatre inspired my type choices. For the display I chose “Transat” a typeface designed by Gregory Shutters that was born of early 20th century design. The display is paired with Adobe Garamond Pro, by Robert Slimbach at Adobe Fonts.
The poster spread features a timeline of the theatre’s century-long history, highlighting the 1977 rescue of the theatre by John Bernardoni, Charles Eckerman and Stephen Scott.
